Description
Beacon High School is seeking educators for anticipated vacancies for the 2021-22 school year in Special Education, English, Math, History, Computer Science, Dance, Visual Arts and Biology. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and value all levels of experience.

As a member of the NY Performance Standards Consortium, Beacon fosters a nurturing, collaborative work environment that promotes students’ appreciation for intellectual diversity, preparation for the rigors of college, and active engagement in their larger communities. Our humanities and science courses encourage students to search through multiple perspectives and to scour research and experimental data for the answers to difficult questions. Our focus on arts and technology reflects the creative, analytical skills we believe students need in an ever-expanding and complex world. Beacon students actively engage in drama, dance, visual art, music, digital media, film and photography. Through this engagement, they are able to heighten the ways in which they see, represent, and impact their world.

Strong candidates would be able to demonstrate content expertise; interest and/or experience with a student-centered instructional philosophy and performance assessment; desire to serve as Advisor, including providing socio-emotional support to students and engaging with difficult or sensitive topics and current events; commitment to professional development, including racial and other forms of equity and culturally sustaining curriculum work; experience supporting all students (e.g. high-performing, students with IEPs, LGBTQ+, diverse backgrounds), and interest in supporting extracurriculars.
