Comments on reality televison

Reality televison has been taking the networks by storm. With each new show the content becomes more racey and more action packed in order to keep the audiences entertained. The answer is no. The programs have many flaws that give the viewers false information about many issues anywhere from what the average person looks like to encouraging people to do any thing for money. Many other questions are raised, such as, what does this say about the society we live in? The big question now is; is reality television something that people should be watching? The answer is no.

Reality television frequently has contestants with perfect bodies. This gives people the wrong idea of what a healthy person should look like. This false information leaves many people feeling discouraged about their appearance, and sometimes leading to eating disorders. Real people do not look like that.
Even shows that do have much more real looking people such as survivor, the producers of the show distort other things. Many times they will edit what people say to add another twist in the plot or just more drama. The people are being taking advantage to just to entertain viewers.
Reality television glorifies many negative aspects of todays society. The fact that people sit down and watch it does not speak well of us either. Because all these shows are driven by money it distortes what is important in life. These shows put money over happiness and that is not a message that the television networks should be putting out there. These programs are competing to get the best ratings and the winner always has the crazier events or upsets more people. When will this stop? It is up to you to stop watching and stop supporting this phenonmenon that plagues the networks. As Stephen Winzenburg stated it is a: "Decline in media morality."
