My favorite Movie

One of my favorite movies of all-time has to be Fast and the Furious part one. The reason I like this movie is, one: I like cars in general especially street racing cars and two because the special effects of the movie seemed very realistic. Since the movie is all about street racing it had to have a good director such as Rob Cohen. I think he directed the movie just the way it had to be directed. The story line fitted perfectly, the special effects where very realistic. When I first watched it made me feel that this movie is based one a true story that’s how much realistic seemed to me.

This movie has everything. Good-looking cars, women, dangerous chase scene, and crime. Some of the best car stunts scenes that I've ever seen in my life. As soon as I heard that we need to do a movie for New Media first thing that came to my mind was to street racing car tricks. I think if I do what I have planed so far, the results wont be as if it was directed by Rod Cohen but I think it would be a good street racing clip.

"Dirty Dancing"

My favorite movie ever, is “Dirty Dancing” directed by Emile Ardolino and starring Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze. In the movie Jennifer Grey plays Baby (her name) and Patrick Swayze plays a handsome dance instructor. The movie was made in 1987 but takes place in 1963,the producers had to shade the colors of the movie in order to make it seem as if its old.
Dirty Dancing is somewhat a musical because the movie is full with dances, beats, music, singing and performances, but behind that there is also a romantic story of two totally different people who fall deeply in love, and change each others life.
It is pretty amazing to see and recognize the different shots taken of dance moves; close up on the dancers feet, on their body movement etc, point of view shots when dancing in pairs... these shots really draw the audience into the film and into the dancing.

It’s the summer of 1963 and Baby is stuck at the Catskills on vacation with her parents and sister. Life couldn’t be more boring until she meets the handsome rebellious dance teacher Johnny Castle, who changed everything for her. Baby starts taking private dance lessons with Johnny, learns steps to a “dirty dance” and eventually performs in front of a large audience, as Johnny’s partner. Throughout the movie Baby and Johnny fall in love and help each other discover new strengths and talents as well as defining their individual place in the world. Baby in the process tangles with her father, and totally disobeys him. She hides her relationship with Johnny from her father because he disapproves of Johnny (for no reason). At the end of the movie Baby finally reconciles herself with her strong strict father.
This movie displays different relationships; the romantic passionate forbidden relationship between Johnny and Baby, the relationship between Baby and her father, and the very competitive relationship between Baby and her sister Helisa.
"Dirty Dancing" is a very sexy movie, it has some kind of magic to it, it pulls you in, fascinates you. The combination of the great music, the energy, the amazing sexy dancing, the beats, the beautiful characters makes the movie so passionate and attractive that one can never see it to many times.

Favorite Movie

My favorite movie is Titanic, directed by James Cmeron and produced by Jo Landau, James cameron. Some of the actors are Kate Winslet and Leonardo Dicapreo. The characters are perfect for the movie and they act really well. It's awsome the way they end the movie even though it's tragedy and most people don't like tragedy but it was still very touching and sad. You can actually feel what the character is feeling because of the way they were doing the acting.

I also like this movie because the way the director shooted it. I thought it was very nice the way he shooted the seen when Kate Winslet was about to jump of the railing of the ship because it was very different and it looked very real. also when Kate Winslet was about to slip of and Leonardo helped her up , again this seen was very original. The way the director used the camera to move around the scenes was hard (for me).I really like the scene when the ship hit the iceberg and later when the ship was sinking.

One Of My Favorite Movies

I like many different movies for different reasons. Because of this, I don't have a favorite movie. There are some movies that I love for the action and some for the drama and some for the suspense. However, some movies are so different from each other, they cannot be compared. For example. I would say that two of my favorite movis are "Best In Show" and "Goodfellas". These are two very different movies that can't really be compared because of how different they are. One is a spoof of documentaries and is about eccentric people at a dog show. The other is a serious Italian mob movie about a man slowly gaining power and then losing it all.

However, within certain categories, I do have favorite movies. My favorite serious drama is "The Deer Hunter". This is an extremely depressing movie about a bunch of friends in the Vietnamese War. It is over three hours long and is very slow. There isn't even a plot until the movie is two-thirds over. It is basically ust a story of four coal miners who volunteer for the army. In the army one of them starts to lose it. One of them(Robert Deniro) returns to his town that has changed a little bit. His other friend returned in a wheel chair and his other friend is AWOL in Vietnam. He goes there to find him. By this point in the movie you really feel for the characters. It is also nearing on the three hour mark. He finds his friend playing Russian Roulette for lots of money. It seems like he is barely conscious of what is going on. He tries to talk to him by playing with him. It seems to be the only way he will isten. It finally appears that he recognizes him and he shoots hmself in the head. Thats the end. It is very long, very depressing and very emotional.

Horror Films

Movies have been a major part of my life. They're a way to get away from the truth. I become a part of the movie and one of the characters, yet only for that two or so hours. In the end I appreciate life to a larger degree.
My mother has introduced many of her classics favorites while also watching the movies of my own time. Since my mom has shown me her movies I understand what makes a horror film; it's not all about the special effects, there's more to it. When I watch Dracula or Laura or any mystery/horror film I see how the movies of today could be perfected.

When I think of good horror films I think of Alfred Hithcock's Psycho (1960) and Rear Window. What makes these movies great is how Hitchcock shoots the extreme shots and its great how the he can do the scary moments without all the special effects.
In Psycho when the detective meets Norman Bates, Norman gets very nervous, while chewing on peanuts the shot zooms in on his thoat to sho his nervous chewing; I loved that shot. I even like the point when Norman deposed the car of the woman he/his mother murdered, it went into the river slowly then for two seconds it stops, he looks like he might freak out, but then it goes under completely. With Rear Window (1954) I love the idea of having shots from the L.B. Jeffrie's point of view throgh the binoculars. The idea of only having the whole movie be from the window of Jeff.
These are things that make horror movies great. Once special effects are added the point of watching it is lost, the movie losses its credability. Movies like; House on Haunted Hill, Spider Man, Pearl Harbor and many others go to the exteme to intise viewers. All the action and adventure films that have special effects keep bringing viewers back. But if they looked back to the time when these special effect shots weren't around they would have a better respect for horror and many other types of films.

My Favorite Movie

When i watch a movie i don't take note of the director, or the set or even the main idea. i beleive that the quality of a movie comes purely from the enjoyment and entertainment i get out of the movie. i have seen so amny movies thta i have enjoyed even loved and i can remember countless times where after i see the movie i say, "oh my god that's my new favorite movie!" most of the time a week later i won't still think that but i rarely hate movies.
My favorite genre of movies is definatly action movies with lot of twists or even horror movies. but all of them have many tihngs in common. but my favorite movie does not fall into the same catagory as my favorite genre of films. my favorite movie is "bye bye birdie". when i was little, i would sit and watch "Bye Bye Birdie" ten times in one weekend and just smile, i enjoyed it so much. it was by far the most entertaining movie adn ever since i was young, i've loved that movie.
It's a musical but it also have a complicated story line. i love the main idea adn all of teh charactors. i think it was very carfully thoguht out and horuhgout teh movie, you can tell how well it was directed.

My favorite movie

My favorite recent movie would have to be The Matrix Reloaded. This is due to the long fight scenes and the camera angles. They made many moves look cool by zooming out and putting this broken-soundbarrier type sound while he leaps up and kicks someone. They would also play around with the speed of the fight. It would be normal and then go into slow motion and then go back to normal. It was pretty cool. They also had these shots in which Neo would be fighting like three guys at once. The camera would be on a dolly whose track is a circle. It would be slowly going while the fight is at its peak.

The Sound of Music, one of my favorite movies

The Sound of Music is a great movie from many perspectives. There are just a few movies that you could sit and watch for numerous times without getting bored. Seeing a very good movie over and over again gives the viewer a deeper undersatnding of the characters and the action, noticing soemthing new and different each time the see it.

I was about four years old when i first watched The Sound Of Music with my parents. I remember how much i enjoyed it, asking my mother to play the songs countless times for me. The action and liveliness of the movie were so fascinating that i started singing along and a couple of days after, i found myslef singing the soungs in the house. My parents simled and asked me how much i liked it. My response to their question was that i wanted to watch it again. When i found out that we owned the movie, i watched it fequently.
Now, watching the moive from time to time, I see differnet things in it, soem that i wouldnt have noticed as a child. Since the movie was shot 50 years ago, its quality isnt as good and performant. However, that doenst make it any worst. Had they shot it now, they would have had other techniques, but the movie would have been much different and maybe not as appealing. The movie was made to target any kind of audience at the time, showing a liberal family who wanted to live a happy and joyful love. The main themes in the movie are love, childhood and maturity, along with the acceptance of peple.
I belive that The Sound of Musicis an extraordinary movie, can be liked by a wide audience range, from children to adults and old folks.

My Favorite Movie

One of my very favorite movies is Life as a House. Life as a House is captured so well that I could watch that movie all day long. The secenic views are fantastic and the angels that they were shot at just make it complete. Everything about this movie is just wonderful from the story which is about a father and his son who build a house which is the way the build a strong father and son relationship. The house is a big symbol throughout the whole movie and brings people back together and closer.

The house is on top of a clif facing the ocean and the shots taken of the house before it was built and after are just so beautiful beacuse of the secenary. When the father and son are building the houses they shot it at all different angles so you could see exactly what had been done. Also when they put the flim together at the secenes where the house was being built they put some of the shots together very quickly. One would be visualizing the house being put together fast. The whole reason for building the house is because the father is dying of cancer which he does not tell his family till the middle of the movie. You get to see his whole life turn around with this house. Plus the lessons that they learn about forgiving and moving on makes the movie even more emotional. It is a movie that you could relate to.

Death Spurs a Memory of Rosebud- Citizen Kane- The Best Movie Ever

Citizen Kane (1941), a sophisticated and classic masterpiece was directed and produced by Orson Welles. The film begins with a shot of Charles Foster Kane in his deathbed, as the scene develops Kane says his final word, “Rosebud” and then drops a globe paperweight of a peasant house unto the floor as he dies. Kane, himself, is a king of his time, a man who in the eyes of others had everything, yet felt unfulfilled at the same time. Because of his success, a deliberately faceless reporter, known as Thompson, is assigned the job of finding the meaning of Kane’s final word. The word “Rosebud”, therefore, becomes a goal for Thompson as he moves forward in questioning Kane’s friends and associates. Furthermore, “Rosebud” shapes and directs the movie, as it allows the viewer to go back into time and discover the meaning of this intricate yet simple word.

Citizen Kane's success lies in the fact that it permits us to complete a jigsaw puzzle, and gives us the impression that we now almost everything, yet we still know nothing. The movie's smooth camera movement guides us through the story. Furthermore, the overlaping of the scenes reveals new information as it fades away from what was just happening. In addition, the filming is key within the picture due to the fact that it ellucidates certain information and keeps other elements secret, in order for the viewer to contemplate the content of the film and the symbolism imbedded within the film. Moreover, the film’s mystery frustrates yet fascinates us all at the same time. At the finale, we are left with the idea that whatever would have made Charles Foster Kane happy, whatever would have given him back his heart, was something he could not acquire through his material wealth. As he lies on his deathbed alone, having lost everyone that was important to him, we find that even he was unsure of what “Rosebud” really was and what he really wanted out of life.

Although, we are given the answer to the infamous question of “What is Rosebud?”, we are only given the direct answer, and what is left is the convoluted question of “What does Rosebud represent?” “Rosebud” was not merely a sled, for a sled was not what Kane really wanted or needed. But instead, it represents an elusive, obscure, and intangible happiness that not only Kane but also the whole world is in constant pursuit of. Consequently, the puzzle that is established within the film is the intrigue of the film, however, it is also the camera movement that guides the viewer and allows the enjoynment of the flim to occur.

My Three Favorite Movies

Most people would say I have the widest range of genres for my three favorite movies; one is an all time classic, another is a romantic drama, and the third is a brat pack movie from the 1980's. Not only is the acting, actors, lines, and plots of the movie, but the way they can make you fall in love witha scene can all depend on one simple camera angle that isn't so simple.

The Sound of Music, my first favorite movie and will always be. I love the songs and the children and their chemistry with Julie Andrews. One of the most breath taking scene in the movie is the opening where Julie Andrews is singing on top of the mountains, the way the camera catches her singing beautifully with teh sceneray in back that is also beuatiful makes it one of the most remembered scenes in the whole movie.

My second favorite movie is Pretty Woman, but come on who does not love that movie? In this one I don't pay as much attention to the camera angles as I do Richard Gere who I absolutley love, but one thing in this movie I do notice and it makes the whole film very romantic and dreamy. Throughout the whole movie it seems to me like there is a pinkish tint, I don't know if that is just the nauseating pink hotel room or just an extra touch to make this movie on every girls favorite list.

My third and final favorite movie is Sixteen Candles, I could watch it all day...maybe. But I love all of director John Huges's work including; The Breakfast Club, Curly Sue, Pretty in Pink, and Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He is the type of director who knows just what teens want in a movie, he's known in the 80's and he still knows today. I don't know what it is about his directing that always draws me to loving all of his films.

The direction of a film is so important. When people say how they don;t notice those types of things in movies that means the director did a good job. You don't wnat to notice those kinds of things unless your looking for it, you wnat to watch a nicly flowing movie, with camera angles that don't chop off the tops of heads or make the lighting to dark.

oh yeah chicka chicka bom bom

My favorite movie is Ferris Bullers day off. The plot is the best, Ferris is living every kids dream by cutting school and getting away with it. He boroghs his friend fathers ferrai and drives him and his friend and his girl friend into the city to have fun for the day. There's nothing so spectaculer about the camera work or the editing but its a fun move to watch.

My Favorite Movie

I like to watch many different kinds of movies especially ones that include comedy and action. therefore, I would say that my favorite mvie is "Kabhi Khushi, Kabhi Gham." You all probably never heard of this becuase it is an Indian film. Although I am not Indian, for some reason I love Indian movies. They are so hillarious. This movie, "Kabhi Khushi, Kabhi Gham," also known as "Some Happiness, Some Sorrow," in English, told a story about many different things at the same time. I really liked the fact that it related to real life so much, yet at the same time, wasn't like a documentary or something. It was a very well directed comedy that a person of any age could watch and enjoy. It was about a rich boy, Rahul, and a poor girl, Anjoli, from families living in totally different parts of the country who fell in love with each other, but Rahul's father did not approve. After Anjoli's father passes away, Rahul realizes that she is now left all alone and has no one to take care of her so he goes on and marries her. As a result he is kicked out of his house and goes away to begin a new life somewhere else.

Rahul was actually adopted by his parents after they had found him in a church when he was just two days old. Knowing this, one could understand how it was so easy for his father to kich him out of his huse after ge heard the news of him having married Anjoli. Rahul and his younger brother, Rohan, were very close to each other. Therefore, it was very hard for Rahul to leave him. But Rahul didn't let the fact that h eloved his brother stop him. As a matter of fact he went and told Rohan that he was going somewhere really far and told Rohan to promise him that he wuld never ask anyone where he went. That was the last they saw of each other before Rahul went away.
The movie starts off with Rohan making the winning hit on the Cricket team of his College. Before he bats, he closes his eyes and remembers the last words that is brother had told him. "If you want to become someone in your life or gain something don't get scared. ust close your eyes and think of your mother nd father and all of your troubles will become easy." I think that it was very powerful that this was the way that the movie started because at first you wonder what that was abot, and when you find out that his brother had given him that advice, you realize how much love they had for each other. After college, Rohan returns hme to his grandmothers and from there overhears them talking and finds out that his brother was adopted. His grandmothers tell him everything that happened and how Rahul was kicked out of home and they have never heard of him since. Rohan then makes it a priority to find his brother and bring him back home. He questions people in the town where Anjoli used to live and found out that Rahul moved to London with Anjoli and her younger sister Pooja. Rohan decides to go there right away.
He goes and finds out where Rahul and his new family lived. then he found a way to let Pooja know that he had come to take his family back home, and he did not want Rahul to know that he was his brother right away. Rohan impresses Rahulk and Anjoli a lot, and also makes them feel homesick at the same time. Somehow, he tricks his parents into coming to London and finds a way for Rahul and his parents to meet each other. There, now that the family had seen each other for the first time after eight years, the love all came back. Rahul didn't return home right away, however, eventually came for a visit because Rohan begged for him to come and make their mother feel happy for one last time at least. In the fear of losing his elder son again, Rahul's father admitted that he was wrong and told Rahul that just because he said something didn't mean that he really meant it. The movie ended with the family reuniting again, and it was a very happy ending.
Although there was a loty of sorrow and a couple of deaths in the movie, it was equally full of happiness and comedy and at the same time was able to relate to our society today with respect to how we feel about people of different classes, being in different countries from your mother country, being away from your parents although you know that they still exist, and much more. I don't think that I have ever seen a movie that amused me this much, or one that made me feel as emotional either.

HeartBreakers!!

And the award for the best movie of all time goes to...........HEARTBREAKERS!!! directed by genius David Mirkin. This was a phonominal film about......

a mother/daughter con team who steal their way into mens hearts...and their bank accounts. I believe i have watched this movie about 25 times since it first appered in theaters and that was only in 2001. I am not sure quite what attracs me to this film so much, but it was great and to this day anytime it comes on HBO i watch it again. I know practically every single line!! Stares Sigourney Weaver, Jennifer love-hewitt and gene hackman make this film very well worth watching. The official website is http://www.mgm.com/heartbreakers/. In my opinion this movie was just very well written and catches my eye and attention. But then again i like all of the "gurly flicks"!! I dont think i have ever watched another movie directed my David Mirkin, but i sure as hell would love to. Actually after doin some research on him, he also directed Romy and Michelle's highschool reunion and is the excutive producer and writer of the simpsons. It seems as if Mr. Mirkin is a real genius! The simpsons, although i have never really got into watching it, is a great show in which many millions of people watch every episode. David Mirkin not only directed one of my facorite movies but he is a very rich Genius. He really outdid himself with his talent. The acting in everything that he has written or produced so far has been supurb and i can't wait to see what he will come out with next! My second favorite movie is brown sugar directed by Rick Fumuyiwa staring taye diggs, sanna lathan, boris kodjoe, queen latifah, nicole ari-parker, and mos def. Dre (Taye Diggs) and Sidney (Sanaa Lathan) can attribute their friendship and the launch of their careers to a single childhood moment. The day they discovered hip-hop on a New York street corner. Now some 15 years later, she is a revered music critic and he is a successful, though unfulfilled music executive. As they lay down the tracks toward their futures, hip-hop isn't the only thing that keeps them coming back to that moment on the corner. The two experience love together and love othedrwise but in the end thw two reignite that love they've had gor each other since they were 10. This was an incredible film not only well written but well acted and i can honestly say this is a movie i watch over and over and over. Both Heartbreakers and Brown sugar are both recently debuted movies, howver they have taken over for my top 2 movies of all time.

The Media And You

The media is all around us and affets us in ways that people don't even realize. From the time we get up in the morning to the time we go to sleep at night, we have been given loads of information. Most of it is from the news, TV and music. Most of the information you recieve is twisted into a certain point of view. Even the source your getting it from has already had an opinion twisted into the information from their source.

All of the foreign stories in the paper are in some way biased. It s a very small difference; a difference between saying a bomber blew something up and saying a bomber blew something up as a result of aggression on someone elses part. Even in school you are influenced to think in a certain way. American patriotism is pushed in most of the textbooks and most of the schools in America. A positive twist is shown on events reflecting America. In Beacon, you see the opposite of this. Most of the things we are taught regarding America have an extremely negative twist on them. In most things we are taught it is very evident that America is being blamed for most of the evils in the world. You have to dig through all the opinions and try to figure out what you think really happened. Then again, you can't be so speculative that you doubt everything you are being told. You have to find a middle ground to view the world.

My favorite movies

I've seen many movies, but out of all of the movies that I have seen I'd say that my favorites would be The Matrix and Spiderman. These movie have really good special effects. They have good scripts and great actors and actresses. These movies were popular for those reasons.

I think that with today's technology movies have moved beyond the old ways of just what you have. Now film is digital, which improves quality and graphics. That is something that both of my favorite movies take advantage of. The Matrix creates new world with out having to actually create it. Of course the some of the places are real. for example the city that Neo is in when he is in the real world is actually Sydney, Australia. Spider- man takes place in NYC. The effects that are created with computers are amazing though. Like the super- slow motion. It's really nice and it's created with a mix of filming and technology.

The Media and People

Everyday people are overwhelmed by the media coming at us form everywhere we turn. People can not help to be influenced by the adds that they see. The adds that we see on TV, in magazines and all over NYC, who would not be influenced? When we see one of our favorite celeberies carrying a certian bag we want to be the celeberty carrying that bag; so we do what we can and buy the bag to be that person.

Although we do not like to think that the media is controling what we buy and do it is true. For one thing, unless you make your own fabric and cloths and cut yourself off from all other people you will be influenced by the media. Evn the people we talk to are influencing us to buy and do things, because we talk about things we see everyday fgor instance: movies, TV, newspapers and Magazienes. So even when we think that we are free form the meida i somehow sneeks up on us and invades our lives even more.

Media vs julian M.

So yeah the media effects me very much when i watch something like a cermercial it can very well sway my wallet enough to buy it. Even more so if i was already thinking about geting it. I dont watch much tv but when iam in the train on the way to school i just stare at the ads the entire time. Now staring at bronx zoo ad can be very pointless but when i get off i kinda do want to go to the zoo but then again not really. The big bill boards ads dont really bother me cause i dont look at them very often. But commercials i see when i do watch tv get to me. I once sang the herbal essence song for 2 days and i still can get the "silly rabbit tricks are for kids" out of my system. Not to mention they hey tony song that i cant ever seem to forget. "hey tony, i love the things you doooo. HEY TONY! if i could i would be you... cause ur the only tiger with the one and only taste who knows how to make a breakfast GRRRREAT!. frosted flakes are more then good.. Thier grrreat!" ohh yeah its horrible song but its sticking to me like fly paper on some ones face.

Reality television

Over the past few years reality television had become extremely popular. It is hard to decide whether this new fad is positive or negitive. The only reality television I had veer watched was real world, and I didnt feel it was that bad. Yet recently it has become so huge that it is ridiculas. I had never watched the show Survivor until it was assigned for homework. Altough i found it rather interesting because they tricked you into thinking this one person was going to get voted off and then another one did, I had something against it.
I feel that reality television portrays the "real world" differently then it really is. Since it is "reality" television many people start to get the wrong ideas about how the world works. It is interesting to watch yet it i over rated and gives people the wrong idea. Reality television is cheaper to make yet is throwing people like screen writers out of buissness.
After watching Survivor I gained a little bit nore respect for reality television. it was shot and edited really well. It was very apealing to the eye and quite entertaining. There was the character you love to hate and the character you form an attachment to. Although it was entertaining and i gained more respect i still have the same views on it. I feel it was blown up way to much. They are coming up with shows where people get married on live television to people they are set up with through the media. I feel thats is ridiculas and really bad.

Living life through the media.

Every day that you step out of the house you are bombarded by billboards advertising different dramas and reality series. The media has become so over powerful in the last few years. The media portays certian babriedoll girls as perect which makes people look at their own bodies and feel insecure.
My life, much like everyone elses, has been effected by the media. Media makes this world more materialistic. It makes people apply more make up because they want to look like their favorite celebrity. A large new thing in the media has been reality television. We have all seen huge signs advertising these shows. The biggest thing in the media in controversy, the more it causes the better it is.
We are all victoms of the media. In my opinion we would be better off with out it, even though I am guilty of falling into the media. The media makes people, even me, more self conscience about their appearance. Many of the informaton givn is false yet people believe it to be true. If i could I would erase the media, yet I can't so I have to just go along with it and fall deeper into its trap

The Medias influence on America

The media is responsible for influencing about 95 percent of the people who have access to some form of media. This would include Television, Movies, Newspaper, magazines, and other not so obvious forms. I think that it is safe to say that at least 90 percnt of america has access to at least one of these types of media.

The media sets a bar of standards for what is cool and what is sexy. America then sees these standards and tries to meet them, this is the probem, these are unreachable goals. People gets put down and made fun of if they are not up to a certain standard in american media, and this shouldn't be. But everyone, of course, wants to be like the "person on TV", so until they make it, i assume they will keep tyring.

How the Media affect the Youth of America.

Everyday, the youth of America sees billions upon billions of advertisements. Projections of what clothes you have to wear, how much you have to weigh, even what color your hair should be. On the one hand, this is a negative impact since most people don't look like models that have been airbrushed to perfection, and this isn't so good for one's self-esteem. But on the other hand, its great for the economy of America.

Its estimated that a large percentage of the money spent in the United States is spent by America's teenagers, which one can see as being very true. Most of the media images are focused on manipulating teenagers into wanting material possessions, and bothering their parents for ages until they get it. The funny thing is, the more money a certain company gets, the more they can advertise, the more they can charge for their product, and as a result, get more money, its a vicious cycle thats good for the economy, but a little rough on our wallets.
Also, the images that the media projects, not only want to make us look like the models, and buy their clothes, but also want us to look like them physically, which is close to impossible for most people. This results in a lower self-esteem, teenage depression, and even eating disorders. I don't think the media has as much of a positive impact as it should, I think that with the amount of advertisement people use on a bathing suit, could be spent in a more positive efficient way, that benefits the entire country

How does Media affect reality?

The Media affects people's opinions. For example aliens, the lochness monster and Bigfoot. These things in my opinion were all created from media. People are affected by seeing things like this. For some people it may scare them, probably they wont take vacations close to the woods anymore because some people's opinions were changed by the Media.

In current events the Kobe’s case if you watch the Media when the commentators who think that Kobe is guilty, they change everybody’s opinion towards Kobe. They make Kobe look like if he is responsible for sexual harassment. When commentators who think Kobe is innocent come out to speak out to the public they make Kobe look innocent and like if he had nothing to do with it. So I think Media changes a lot of people’s opinion even mine.

How Media affects me

The Media is an important part of my life. It is Important because there are a lot of things that the media does that convinces you, like clothes. Every pair of Jordans that come out, everyone gets it because its a type of sneaker that everyone gets. I do the same thing because thats how everyone fits in.

The things that people do in music videos, the people that watch it does it to, like the group Youngbloodz. They have a dance called the A Town Dance and they did it in the video so everyone else started doing that to. If we didn't have media, no one would be cool and we wouldn't have anything to talk about.

The Impact By Media

I am affected by the media everyday. Many things happened in the media day by day. Everytime a person goes on the internet, the first things you see is todays media news. Everytime somebody turns on a t.v. the first thing that comes on the screen is lastest news.

Then the one of the most catching things are the rumors. Rumors are happening everyday about celebrities, and if you miss them some people feels like there not with the crowd. Different rumors start, so people have to decide for them selves on which ones to believe or not.

Also when celebrities get in trouble by the law, then that is also interesting, because some people will either be on their side or not. It is also sad for certain people because some people look up to certain celebrities, so when they see them get in trouble it feels like their idol is bad, and just another criminal.

Another important media is fashion. For some people media is an important way to see new fashions and syles that our out, so they can wear them. New trends and styles always comes on t.v.,. The one main reason people see trends, styles, and fashion on t.v. is becuase of commercials and advertising. Commericials are always on t.v. and they showcase fashion and all the new styles.

The media affects people everyday. It is all around the world. Entertainment and all the other aspects of media are displayed on t.v., and the internet. It is the individual to choose whether to watch, hear or read the media or not, but the media is all around the world.

Television: The Other Religion
By Osjua A. Newton

Television is unquestionably the most power form of media influence to date. Television could even be considered as a new religion since many familes and children spend most of their lives revolving around the television recieving their news, entertainment, and methods on how to live their lives. The shear force that television has over society is almost mind boggling to the extent that we need to ask ourselves, do we control television or does television control us?

Growing up into the internet generation, I can honestly say that I am influenced by television. Every morning I turn on the local news to know what the weather is going be like or watch general news stories that happened while I was sleeping. I also watch cartoons, anime, and sit-coms which influence my understanding on what subjects I think are funny or what topic I should be interested in. However, knowing that I am influence by a media market, which is not there to always assist me, I create precautions to limit the amount of direct influence from one media source. Reading, writing, or artistic expression I find are the best opinions to create your individuality rather than to be told who you are from a box with little rays of light coming out of it. Not to say that television cannot be artistic or meaningful form of entertainment, but rather acknowledging that television is an extention of ourselves, we are not an extension of television. Therefore, we can begin to define our own individuality rather than becoming a drone of a new religion worshiping small lights from a box.

The Media is all around us

I wake up way too early to the sound of a commercial shoot right outside my building. They're setting up for an all day shoot for a 'Tums' commercial. There's a mock street fair, complete with funnel cakes and popcorn. It's a little too much for me at 6.30am.

I get home from school today, twelve hours later, and they're only just getting ready to shoot. It's been an all day set-up. I'm told by some guy with a headset and clipboard that I'm not allowed into my building. Dude, it's been a long week, bugger off. I say that under my breath, too British to say it to his face. So I stand around and watch this surreal world unfolding before me. There's probably over a hundred people working on the set- production team, actors and extras. It's pretty insane - all for a commercial to help indigestion.

Eventually I get into my building; as I write this I'm still listening to the crazy noise of the shoot outside. It gets me thinking... am I being punished, somehow, by someone, somewhere, for asking my Media students, 'how much are you affected by the media?'

Media really impacts me!

Media really impacts me. I wacth t.v every day for somany hours. If I don't watch t.v. it's as if i'm missing something for the day. Although, i am not really bombered by the media that much but I probably do get a little influenced by it and I don't even know. It's obvious the if a person watches television so much then they do get influenced. If there is nothing interesting on t.v. I still just flip channels and check if i could watch something. I am just obsessed with it. T.v. is just part of my life like anything else.

the media...all day every day

whether you realize this or not, the media is everywhere you look. we are highly influenced by the media in very indirect way. We look outside and see billboards, we read magazines, watch television, movies, and absolutly everything is advertised. this constant surrounding of the media leaves us no choice but to be influenced by the media. though i beleive alot of the media is extracted from real life, it shapes our lives more then anything.

the media does not only reflect our lives and show how ot improve our lives. it also sets extreamly unrealistic goals that lead America's youth into a dream that they cannot fulfill. i think that the media creates such an illusion for people to look upo to something that is very hard to acheive, and it's wrong for kids to see famous poeple as so much higher then them beacsue they are more beautiful or better in some ways. the youth's egos are crushed beacsue of this perfect peron's image that they beleive they should look up to adn eventually try adn be.

MeDiA affecting YOU?

Each and every day you are bombarded by the media! They throw all different rumors and partray false images of people to make you believe that that is really how they are and whats going on. But if you don't go believeing everything you hear.....

than how is it affecting you? Well it greatly affects us whether you think so or not. No matter how hard we try to take those images out of our head and no matter how hard we try to just assume that the media is lieing to catch the attention of viewers in the back of our minds we wonder and are shocked at what we have just heard. During the course of our day or even our week, we will go spreading what we heard and asking if other people heard the same. Once it sparks conversation among groups of people, then it becomes more and more believable and pretty soon you'll be the one saying, " No thats not true cause i heard that Britney Spears smokes. It has to be true cause i saw her." The media is always trying to come up with stories or doing stories on rumors about stars that they know will catch viewers eyes and have them talking and tuning in the next night to see what everyone is talking about. They are trained in what they do and they know exactly what they are doing when they start up or expand gossip. They know that they will have you talking and they may even know that what they are showing isn't true but they dont care because all they want is people to tune in and continue to tune in to hear the latest gossip. I myself am greatly affected because my mother is a news anchor/reporter for upn 9 news. Although i know what is true and what isnt because she'll tell me, i still have to deal with her coming home and saying that this happened or that happened. When i hear people talking about gossip thats on the news im always saying no that not true trust me....they usually dont believe me so i just back off. I get to see first hand how greatly the media is affecting and munipulating our people and young children and its terrible. Instead of learing new things and finding out what is going on in our world, people tend to only pay attention to the gossip stories and for the most part people actually believe these sad made up tales. Im not saying that it is not interesting to listen to all of the star gossip however you have to know when to draw the line and many of us dont!!! DONT LET THE MEDIA AFFECT AND MUNIPULATE YOU......BE DIFFERENT!

Are you affected by media?

I don't think that I am affected by media much at all. Basically, when I think of someone being affected by the media, I think of it in terms of style. There are many different style's portrayed in the media. A lot of them may also be consistent. People dress nice, look nice, have the "perfect" bodies, etc, etc.

Although many people understand that these styles are all part of media and are there for entertainment , some people take those styles as an example of the way that we are supposed to be. For example take Television. People may look at events that take place on T.V shows and use them as ways to solve thier own problems. For instance, with Survivor. Because of the fact that the participants in the show do not have any food, over time they become weak and lose weight. Certain people with obesity issues who may look at this might think that if they try not to eat anything, they would lose weight. They do not realixze that this could be unhealthy for them. Even though I do not allow media to affect me in that kind of way, it stil does affect certain people.

Media affects you

The media affects me in many ways. I would go to sleep late if a good show is on or I would sleep early if its not. I cannot watch certain shows simply because there are too many comercials or commercials I hate.

The media and our daily lives

The media today has a great affect on people and society. We encounter the media on a daily basis, and usually don’t even realize. The media has subconsciously become such a drastic and influential part of society's life, to an extent that I don’t believe we could get along without it.

Throughout our lives we have grown to depend on the media, even for the simplest things. On a daily basis we are surrounded by media; TV, newspapers, magazines, advertisements, music, radio etc. How can we not be affected?
The media provides us with information, and entertainment such as the latest fashions, the weather, the latest news (what’s going on in the world), celebrity gossip, soap operas, comedies and much more, which all have a considerable impact and affect on our everyday life.

Posted by at 11:42 PM | Comments (4)

Media-How are we bombarded?

Media today shapes and reflects society. From the moment we wake up to the moment we fall asleep we are bombarded with different forms of media. It has become such a constant in the lives of every individual that the huge phenomenon of media is barely noticed. The question is, to what extent are we confronted with media and how much are we affected?

I think that every person individually is affected by the media in different ways. Not everyone will look at an advertisement and want to buy the product, or see a thin girl on television and suddenly develop an eating disorder. The people that react in these manners are those who are highly affected by media. This does not mean that they witness more, it simply means that for whatever reason, certain people cannot decipher between what they want and what the media wants them to want. Each day we are attacked by media in numerous forms. When we wake up and turn on the radio or television, immediatly we face advertisements and ideas that may somehow affect us. When we leave our homes, we walk by posters, billboards and signs that promote certain products, activities, etc. These too may affect us later on, without us even noticing. When getting on the train or a bus to reach our destination, signs cludder the walls and surround the windows forcing us to read what they have to say. This may lead to later purchasing one of the items promoted, when we may have not even noted what the sign was advertising.

Every day we are attacked with media. However, each individual allows the media to affect them differently. Some will change their lives to follow what the media instructs. Some will work to do the exact opposite of what the media says.

Media and Society

Magazines, newspapers, radio, televison; there is no escaping the media. It is a major source shaping our society. Most of us are numb to the control it has over us. It is impossible to be completely unaffected by something that plays such an essential role in our lives and society.

The relationship between the media and society is somewhat cyclical. Our actions reflect what we see/hear/read through the media and the media works off of our interests as a society. The public is reached through the media which sends images and forms certain ideas in us that we would not form independently. For example, many people subconsiencely rely on the media to know whats "cool," and then the media works off of the people's general new perception of "cool." When society becomes bored of these ideas the media creates knew ones- once again shaping our perspective on specific issues and styles.

Posted by at 09:16 PM | Comments (3)

To what extent are we affected and surrounded by the media?

From the moment our alarm clock wakes us up with the radio, the media is there trying to make an impact on our day. The commercials that we hear at 7 am stay imprinted in our heads for the rest of the day, our mind processing them without even noticing, because this is all happening subcounciously. The media producers are trying to brainwash us even when we least expect it, such as on the train when we stare blatantly at the ads on the walls.

Walking down the street, you get a picture of what you ahould look and be like. The stores advertize their new and in-fashion clothes, which they make you think that are the best. Then you want to buy them, and you look at others who wear them too, but you think that the clothes look better on them, so you are still not satisfied. Most magazines are filled with more ads than real articles, which shows again how the producers tend to use any possible way to influence the audience.
How can every woman look like a super model if the foods that are advertied as being good are very fatty? The percentage of women in the us who have the size of a supermodel is 6 to 8%, which is a ridiculously small percentage. This shows that what media is trying to portray is something unrealistic. People should not be fooled by everythign that is pretty and surrouds us, because that isnt always in our reach.

The Media

The media effects us all very much because it is something that we cannot escape. Subconciously, it has a grip on everyone; and whether or not it effects what products we buy, it will always annoy us. It is always in your face; it feels like you can't flip a page in a magazine these days without being bombarded by junk you're never going to buy.
For the most, the media doesn't own my life as much as it does some others. But still, I cannot deny that it effects certain things that I do for the good or bad. A lot of times in the media, unfortunatley, bad things are made out to be positive; which some argue currupts society. However since we have freedom of the press in this country, nothing can be done.

The Media

The media in todays society has a major affect on people. It affects of all diffrent ages, but i feel that the people the media really centers on is todays young generation.

When it comes to how i am affected by the media. I think that im affected to an extent. Of course i get obsorbed into what the newest fashion is and stuff like that , i think everyone is.
One great example ,which shows that people get affected by the media is that young girlks look in magazines and see skinny modles and then they look at themselfs and think that that is the perfect body. This can cause girls to become anorexic. This is a good example that shows how the media could influence people in a bad way. It is very sad, but it happens.

The Media in My Life

Media is a way of communications with wide reach and influence. The media affects everyday people around the world even if they don't realize it. There are different forms of media, such as; television, the radio, magazines, newspapers, books, music and many more. When you're watching the news or listening to music the recipient receives new information and they become influenced to wear those clothes, listen to that type of music, watch out for a killer, or whatever the message is depending on the form of media. For me, I encounter all the different types of media.

In the morning I watch the news for the weather; it affects what I wear to school. On my way to school and going home, I listen to my CD player; otherwise I'm bored and I can't totally wake up. While listening to music I read a book on the train; it also stops the boredom and stops the focus on those around. I only listen to Rap, R&B, Hip Hop, Spanish, Reggae, and Rock. In my spare time I read magazines and watch television; these are aimed to influence my appearance, to try and be as skinny as possible, have perfect skin and a shapely body. The 'Perfect Woman' image is a part of most media; it thankfully doesn't affect me. Newspapers, I don't read them on a regular basis but when I do I'm influenced to watch out for killers and to keep my eyes and ears open for any and all celebrities. All in all people are affected, maybe not in the same way but everyone watches, listens and reads the media.

The Media and Me

For this assignment I was asked to asses the Medias impact on my daily life. When I began to right I was a little confused, I really do not know what media really means. In the dictionary the defination of media is very confusing and also takes up about a page and a half. Through asking around I developed my own defeniation that Media is all forms of public communication.

I am very much dependent on public communication. I realy on the media for everything that goes on in my life. When I wake up to find out what time it is I have to turn on my TV. ALso to find all the events of the day and the night before I have to purchase the news paper to make sure I am cohearant with the events that have passed throught out the night and what events will happen through out the day.

I have become bombared by the medias adviretisements. WHen I want to find out the weather or even the time I have to sit through 4 minutes worth of commericals and if I just so happened to walk away the news casters might stop talking about the weather and might start to talk about the latest fashion.

The Media and I have a love hate relationship. We both depend on each other and often times use each other for whatever purpose we need at the moment, then boom.... we turn each other off.

The Media and You

The media is all around us and affects us in ways that, sometimes, you don't even notice. Here's on example: When you turn on the TV in the morning to see the weather, you are assulted with people telling you what to buy. (There are about five Sleepy's commercials before I can get to the weather.) Then, in the news getting to the weather, on the channel I watch, NY1, they have a segment called "In The Papers". This is a blatant example of the media affecting you. Not only do you get to see the world news interpreted through a writer, but then you get to see only the ones picked out by the reporter. There is going to be a little bias at some point in the reporting process. The news can twist your views to one side. It can affect the way you think and the way you see the world. Seeing only the information that they want you to see can distort you're view of things slightly. It's a certain type of propaganda that is acceptable in our society. That's why sometimes you have to search for other stories and piece things together yourself.

The Affects of the Media on Girls

The media is what is "in" today, what celebrities do and what promoters say is cool is what you will see all your friends wearing or doing tommorow. The media affects how people dress, act, eat, because you can't go anywhere without seeing an add. Billboars, magazines, t-shirts, were always promoting something for them because they, the media, has convinced us thats whats cool.

The media affects everyone today, especially girs, to look their best on the outside and not care about the inside. When girls see celebrities who are beautiful they want that and will do anything to get it, from starving themselves to have the perfect body or wearing tons of cheap make-up from Duane Reade to have a beautiful face. The media makes girls more aware of themselves and others physical appearance rather than their spiritual beauty. When young women and girls see artist prancing around with bare-bottom clothes who claim they do it for womens rights, their going to copy that, but if a girls walks out on the street dressed like that the last thing she will get is womens liberation but the first are labels, such as whore and slut.

Do these artist realize that the in the real world the way you appear is not how you get yourself heard, or has the media now changed that and thats all it is about? Whichever it is either way it goes, people will always follow what the media wants, unless someone decides to step up to the plate and make a difference.

The media has effected me alot everyday i wake up and put on the T.V. to find out the weather or watch a show while getting ready. Mostly everything that surrousnds me deals with the media. There are comercials to pomote buy certain products that might appeal to you like make-up or video games. ALso on my way to shcool in the trains there are many adds for movies or clothing. They media is everywhere and its hard to avoid the media. If you open a magazine the media is there or a newspaper. So it is all over the place and effects me and my choice to buy a certain product or see a certain movie.
The media also can have good effects and bad effects on me like wanting to by a CD or the bad effects are it can cause me to be scared. Another bad effect would be that it can tell you false inormation about poducts a example would be liek a diet pill thats they say wokrs but in reality it might have bad side efects.

how does media effect george jedda everyday

Everyday i wake up and watch the news (when i can wake up that early). The times I view the news I seen advertisments and see messsages hidden within the news. When I walk to school I see advertisments for certain ads that reflect the media. We are all effected by the media in some way no matter how much we try and stay a way from it. It all comes back.

The Media: It's affects and temptations

Media- a word used to represent the newspapers, magazines, tv shows, movies, and advertisements surrounding our daily environments. The Media is an instrument that is found within everyones activities. For instance, the newspaper that lingers upon one's floormat in the morning, or the 7, 8, 9, 5, 7, and 11 oclock news that one turns on their television for, or the addictive shows that one follows with contentment, or the magazine that one waits for patiently to read the new gossip.

The Media ranges from CNN, and the so-called hard core truth that follows all the way to J-lo's dispute of the week with Ben. It is something that whether it is appreciated or dismissed, it is still an important part of everyone's everyday life. The Media acts as a representative of information and entertainment. It is something that affects every individual in that it changes ones perception and way of thinking. The Media is stealthy in many ways, in that not everyone can see its prodigious affects on man kind. Whether the affects are good or bad, are left to the individual to decided, nevertheless, they are present and immense.

How does the media affet me.

I don't really know how it affets me. Is it supposed to? Yes, but how do I know part of me is affected by the media? I probably am affected by it, but I just don't know it. That is it's purpose.

Everyday I turn on the TV set or I swith on my omputer I'm instantly hit with things from the media. When I'm wathing my favorite shows I see all these commercials for big labels. Nike, oca Cola, Pepsi, McDonalds, it's all I see on TV really. We all think we're watching 30 minutes of our favorite show, but really it's just 10-15 minutes. What we're really watching is 10-15 minutes of commercial that try to convince us to by the products out there. So yes it does affect me. It probably affects all of us. If a person doesn't have a TV it doesn't matter. There a posters out there doing the same thing. The media is every where now. It can affect us in a good way and a bad way, but the media will always be here.
