Are you affected by media?

I don't think that I am affected by media much at all. Basically, when I think of someone being affected by the media, I think of it in terms of style. There are many different style's portrayed in the media. A lot of them may also be consistent. People dress nice, look nice, have the "perfect" bodies, etc, etc.

Although many people understand that these styles are all part of media and are there for entertainment , some people take those styles as an example of the way that we are supposed to be. For example take Television. People may look at events that take place on T.V shows and use them as ways to solve thier own problems. For instance, with Survivor. Because of the fact that the participants in the show do not have any food, over time they become weak and lose weight. Certain people with obesity issues who may look at this might think that if they try not to eat anything, they would lose weight. They do not realixze that this could be unhealthy for them. Even though I do not allow media to affect me in that kind of way, it stil does affect certain people.
