Beacon offers an outstanding laboratory-intensive science curriculum. Though New York State only mandates that students take three years of science, Beacon requires all seniors take a Senior Science Seminar.

Over the course of a semester, each senior must create and conduct an original experiment. S/he must derive a hypothesis, conduct research with a mentor, and present and defend a Power Point presentation of the findings.

In 2004, Beacon launched its Beacon Science magazine which showcases the scientific thinking of Beacon Seniors and the publication of their final projects. There have been two publications so far, each one published through The Student Press Initiative.
